Job summary

Imperium Commodity Search is seeking an experienced Physical Dairy Trader for a family-run trading business in Chicago. The ideal candidate will build a profitable brokerage in physical dairy products, contributing to long-term client-centric relationships.

With a strong company culture and low attrition, the position rewards efforts through direct PnL commissions. A minimum of 3 years in dairy trading is required along with excellent interpersonal skills. Confidential communication is guaranteed for all candidates.

Job Title: Physical Dairy Trader (Back-to-Back)

Salary: Commensurate with experience + direct PnL Commissions

Imperium Commodity Search is confidentially retained by a family run dairy trading business in Chicago seeking to grow their trading desk through the thoughtful addition of an experienced Dairy Trader covering physical products in the domestic US market on a back-to-back basis.

Our client pays a direct PnL commission rather than a discretionary bonus, meaning traders are generously rewarded for the efforts with a transparent structure.

What you will be doing:

• Build/port a profitable book of back-to-back/physical brokerage business on dairy products in your specialist area (whey, powders, butter, cheese, WMP, SMP etc.)
• Work with the trading team/owners on client development, promotion and expansion of the trading business across the United States
• Keep up to date with dairy industry analysis, economics and macro data to ensure profitable trading decisions and value-add to suppliers and customers that the business serves
• Build a variety of sourcing and procurement partners in the physical dairy space, actively driving margins whilst delivering long term relationships
• Attend client meets, industry events and conferences to build business, coverage and market knowledge of the business
• Work with internal and third party finance and logistics/operations teams to facilitate smooth flow of physical dairy products

• 3+ years experience in a physical dairy trading, brokerage or sales position with a trading house or brokerage
• An thorough knowledge of a product class within the dairy complex (whey, powders, butter, cheese etc.)
• Strong integrity and a desire to do the right thing for customers and the business
• A desire to build a book/desk within a small trading house
• Excellent interpersonal skills
