Job Title: Head Edible Nut Trader

Location: United States (Arkansas or Remote)

Salary: Negotiable (newly created position)

Imperium Commodity Search is confidentially retained by a multi-product soft commodity trading house, seeking an experienced edible nut/tree nut trader to establish a new-to-firm desk. Our client specializes in food/agri commodities for retail, production, and processing sectors, with established desks in pulses, sweeteners, and additives.

This role offers autonomy and responsibility for the edible nuts sector, ideal for a trader with a strong network (domestic or export/import) and leadership aspirations in a desk/project in this sector.

Responsibilities:

1. Establish and lead an edible nuts trading desk covering tree nuts (almond, brazil, cashew, hazelnut, macadamia, pecan, walnut, pistachio, etc.) in the US, serving as a subject matter expert.
2. Promote edible nut products to clients including producers, retailers, and wholesalers.
3. Build and maintain relationships throughout the trading cycle with suppliers and customers, ensuring effective business channels for buying and selling tree nuts.
4. Coordinate with logistics and finance teams to ensure smooth, timely, and cost-effective trade flows, addressing issues promptly.
5. Cross-sell edible nuts to existing and new clients through collaboration with other teams/desks.
6. Stay informed on market intelligence and news to inform trading strategies.
7. Develop new supplier and customer relationships across North American markets.

Requirements:

1. Minimum of 5 years' experience in trading or a related role, handling sales/trading to wholesalers and distributors in North America, specifically in edible nuts/tree nuts.
2. Strong understanding of logistics and operational aspects of edible nut/tree nut trading.
3. Excellent communication skills with a proven ability to onboard and retain clients and suppliers.
4. Personable, tenacious, and eager to work in a professional environment with like-minded traders.
5. Fundamental knowledge of edible nuts.
