Position Overview

The Commodity Manager is responsible for developing and executing the commodity strategy for assigned commodities within the Water & Waste (WWS) supply base. This role involves overseeing strategic suppliers, supporting WWS Buyers and Supplier Performance Managers with supplier obligations, resourcing, and contractual negotiations.

The Commodity Manager defines, deploys, and governs the supplier base strategy in alignment with the Strategic Purchasing vision, collaborating with Purchasing Managers, Buyers, Supplier Performance Managers, and Engineering Project Managers. The role includes settling negotiation terms, managing performance agreements, leading strategy reviews, and reporting to various committees. The position reports directly to a lead Commodity Manager and the WWS Purchasing VP.

Key Responsibilities

1. Define sourcing and supplier base strategies, including make-or-buy decisions, consolidation, and new source development.
2. Regularly report on strategy progress and outcomes.
3. Consolidate and analyze commodity data, staying informed on innovations and technical evolutions.
4. Develop plans and KPIs to assess strategy effectiveness.
5. Ensure implementation follow-up of commodity strategies.
6. Serve as the procurement expert for assigned commodities internally and externally.
7. Manage data related to strategic suppliers, including operational performance and quality metrics.
8. Lead market and competition analysis within the commodity.
9. Update supplier data and manage mitigation projects for poor-performing suppliers, ensuring operational continuity.
10. Prepare and process RFQs based on forecasted volumes.
11. Manage contractual relationships with suppliers, including negotiations of Long Term Agreements with legal support.

Qualifications

• Education: Bachelor's degree.
• Experience: Minimum 8 years in strategic purchasing roles or related functions.
• Computer Skills: Advanced Microsoft Office, good understanding of ERP systems.
• Other Skills: Strong knowledge of purchasing processes, supplier quality, manufacturing technologies, negotiation, and legal aspects of supply chain.
• Preferred: Experience in aerospace, automotive, or medical fields.
• Languages: Fluent in English; additional languages such as French, Spanish, or German are a plus.
• Leadership: Willingness to mentor and support purchasing teams.
