Overview

This key role involves developing and executing strategic supply chain goals across the business unit. The individual will oversee operational performance for multiple commodities, including Circuit Card Assembly (CCA). Responsibilities include sourcing, auditing, negotiating, and awarding contracts aligned with cross-functional and Make/Buy strategies. The candidate must be highly accountable, capable of building strong supplier relationships to improve quality, costs, and service, while maintaining DOD certification. The role requires critical thinking and attention to detail to support multiple programs, with an emphasis on goal achievement and project urgency. Continuous improvement methodologies are integral to ensuring quality manufacturing aligned with design specifications and customer expectations.

Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement commodity strategies, managing suppliers based on performance metrics such as quality, service, technology, and price.
  • Negotiate pricing and terms, conduct supplier performance reviews, identify cost reduction opportunities, and drive performance improvements.
  • Manage outsourcing or insourcing activities, including transition planning and critical path execution, demonstrating initiative and urgency.
  • Negotiate and execute complex high-value awards, ensuring contractual obligations and budgets are met.
  • Handle contract negotiations including NDAs, LTAs, MSAs, and T&Cs, coordinating with Legal as needed.
  • Participate in Make/Buy decisions for existing and new programs, proactively developing strategic plans.
  • Ensure procurement compliance with SBA and DOD regulations, including outreach to disadvantaged suppliers and fair bidding practices.
  • Lead Lean/Six Sigma initiatives within the area and other departments to foster cross-functional problem solving and continuous improvement.
  • Develop and analyze KPIs and metrics, utilizing SAP data to inform strategies and improvements.
  • Participate in safety programs, adhering to safety policies and practices.
Qualifications

Minimum:

  • 8-10 years of purchasing experience, with a focus on cost reduction, strategic sourcing, or total cost of ownership, preferably in manufacturing.
  • Bachelor's Degree in Business, Supply Chain, Operations Management, or related field.
  • Eligibility to work with controlled US export technology, materials, or hardware, requiring US Person status or approval.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain US security clearance.

Preferred:

  • Experience in cost reduction, strategic sourcing, or total cost of ownership within CCA or electronic components.
  • Master's Degree.
  • Certifications such as CPM, CPIM, or ISM membership.
  • Experience with SAP or Oracle systems.

Salary Range: $108,137 - $155,443 annually (San Diego). Employees may be eligible for bonuses and benefits including health insurance, 401K, paid holidays, and more.
