Meet the Team

Cisco Global Supplier Management (GSM) team is seeking a motivated Supplier Commodity Manager for the "Interconnects" commodity. You will be part of a highly impactful and dynamic organization collaborating with cross-functional teams and suppliers to enable Cisco's business.

Position Responsibilities
  1. Strategic Sourcing: Identify and evaluate potential suppliers, develop sourcing strategies, and select the best suppliers based on technology, price, quality, guarantee supply, supply flexibility, delivery time, and sustainability factors.
  2. Supplier Management: Build strong relationships with key suppliers, monitor their performance, and address issues. Regular face-to-face meetings with suppliers will be necessary to stay engaged and informed on new technology developments and supply chain updates.
  3. Market Analysis: Track market trends, price fluctuations, and supply chain disruptions to anticipate risks and opportunities. Prepare data-driven industry sensing reports for assigned technologies.
  4. Commodity Strategy: Develop and execute commodity strategies in collaboration with various teams and obtain necessary approvals.
  5. Operational Management: Manage costs, supply capacity, quality, material delivery, and other operational activities. Prepare reports for management as needed.
  6. Negotiation & RFP: Lead cost reduction initiatives, manage RFP processes, validate supplier information, and ensure timely award splits.
  7. Contract Negotiation: Negotiate and finalize legal contracts with suppliers, working closely with the legal team.
  8. Supplier Development: Evaluate and select suppliers, identify improvement opportunities, develop performance plans, and monitor progress.
  9. Resiliency: Work to enable supply chain resiliency through non-China manufacturing locations and manage related supplier activities.
  10. Supplier Business Review: Prepare and deliver data-driven reviews on cost, quality, fulfillment, and other categories.
  11. Sustainability: Ensure suppliers meet environmental and social standards, working with internal teams and suppliers to close open actions.
  12. Risk Management: Identify and mitigate supply chain risks such as geopolitical issues and natural disasters.
  13. Strategic Co-planning: Collaborate with teams and suppliers to develop and implement demand plans.
  14. Multi-Sourcing & Value Engineering: Explore multi-sourcing opportunities to enhance cost competitiveness and supply flexibility.
  15. Lead-time Optimization: Work with suppliers to reduce lead times and track related metrics.
  16. Advance Purchases & Risk Buy-Orders: Manage requirements, approvals, and reporting related to advance and risk buy orders.
  17. Initiatives/Projects: Lead or participate in organizational initiatives, including process and tool improvements, and UAT testing.
  18. Supplier White Paper: Draft executive-level supplier white papers as required.
  19. Additional Responsibilities: Other future business responsibilities may be added as needed.
Minimum Qualifications
  • 5+ years of cross-functional supply chain experience
  • Experience evaluating market trends, supplier data, and translating insights into business outcomes
  • Proven negotiation and communication skills with suppliers
  • 5+ years in global supplier management
Preferred Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent in business, supply chain, economics, or related fields
  • Relevant certifications in contract management or supply chain
  • Experience in commodity management or supply chain operations
  • Understanding of commodity markets and market dynamics
