Job summary

Acara Solutions is seeking a Commissioning Technician in Philadelphia, PA for a 6-month contract with potential to go direct. You will perform field modifications, diagnostics, and commissioning on rail vehicles, working across electrical, mechanical, pneumatic, and hydraulic systems.

You will read schematics, test modified systems, and document results while supporting startup and warranty activities in a safety-focused environment.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• 2+ years field modifications experience.
• 2+ years troubleshooting electrical, mechanical, and electro-mechanical systems.
• 2+ years experience with hand tools, power tools, and precision measuring equipment.

Responsibilities

• Perform field modifications, retrofits, upgrades, repairs, and troubleshooting on rail vehicles and related equipment, from 24VDC to 480VAC.
• Read and interpret electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, mechanical drawings, and installation instructions to diagnose issues and complete quality installations.
• Test, inspect, commission, and validate modified systems, identifying root causes and applying corrective actions per engineering and safety requirements.
• Document completed work, deficiencies, corrective actions, testing activities, and commissioning results clearly and accurately.
• Support startup, commissioning, warranty, and field service activities at customer sites with high safety and workmanship standards.

What You’ll Do:

• Document completed work, identified deficiencies, corrective actions, testing activities, and commissioning results clearly and accurately.
• Support startup, commissioning, warranty, and field service activities at customer sites while working independently and maintaining high standards of safety and workmanship.

Job Requirements

What You’ll Bring:

• High School Diploma or GED
• 2+years of experience in performing field modifications and validating system functionality.
• 2+years of troubleshooting experience in electrical, mechanical, and electro-mechanical systems.
• 2+years of experience in hand tools, power tools, and precision measuring equipment.

What Sets You Apart:

• Strong working knowledge of electrical systems from 24VDC through 480VAC.
• Ability to read and understand electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, technical manuals, and engineering change documentation.
• Skilled in the use of electrical test equipment including multimeters, clamp meters, insulation testers, and related diagnostic tools.
• Ability to work independently, prioritize tasks, and solve complex technical problems with limited supervision.
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to safety and quality standards
• Experience commissioning rail vehicles, transit systems, industrial equipment, or other complex electro-mechanical systems.
• Ability to perform software-assisted diagnostics and fault analysis.
• Familiarity with CAN communication networks, PLC controls, or vehicle control systems.
• Previous field service or startup/commissioning experience in a customer-facing environment.
