Job summary

Acara Solutions in Chicago, IL is seeking a Service Technician to support the commissioning, maintenance, troubleshooting, and warranty operations of locomotives and coaches. You will diagnose mechanical and electrical issues, complete repairs, and provide technical support to keep equipment operating reliably and safely.

You will use drawings, schematics, and diagnostic software, perform FMIs, document activities, and communicate with customers and leaders while adhering to safety and industry

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED.
• 3+ years of hands-on experience in technical service, equipment maintenance, commissioning, repair, or a related mechanical/electrical field.

Responsibilities

• Commission and support warranty operations while troubleshooting mechanical and electrical failures using drawings, schematics, circuit plans, and diagnostic software.
• Perform maintenance, repairs, installations, and Field Modifications (FMIs), using shop machinery, hand tools, and specialized equipment.
• Provide onsite and remote 2nd- and 3rd-level technical support, identify root causes, and recommend corrective actions for equipment issues.
• Document failures, repairs, modifications, parts returns, and RMA activities in the appropriate systems and databases.
• Communicate with customers, team members, site leads, and managers while following applicable technical, safety, and industry procedures.
• Automated line processing and controlling, or operating with a broader range of production machines in production lines are examples for this level or work.

Job Requirements

What You'll Bring:
