Job summary

AVI-SPL is seeking a skilled AV Test & Commissioning Technician to perform final testing and commissioning of complex AV systems on site and post-build. You will work with project teams to document test results and ensure installations meet project objectives, often traveling to client sites.

Responsibilities include reading schematics, testing point-to-point functionality, troubleshooting AMX/Crestron and DSP systems, wiring control programs, and writing DSP code to optimize performance.

Qualifications

  • Proven ability to read schematics and blueprints.
  • Proficient with test and calibration equipment.
  • Support user acceptance testing.
  • Minor programming capability for AMX/Crestron – troubleshoot.
  • Ability to diagnose complex AV system problems.
  • Knowledge of advanced signal flow for audio, video, and control.
  • Understand IP networking.
  • Advanced PC proficiency.
  • Excellent multitasking and meeting deadlines.
  • High school diploma or equivalent.

  • Act as a customer liaison in absence of Project Manager.
  • Create, track, and complete a project Punchlist.
  • Ability to travel to various job sites required.
  • Perform additional tasks to support the team and organization.

Job description

Overview

This role is responsible for the final testing and commissioning of complexed Audio-Visual systems during and post build. This position will also provide technical/management leadership on major tasks or technology assignments as well as establish goals and plans that meet project objectives. You’ll work closely with the Project Manager to provide documented test result from system testing and commissioning.

Responsibilities

  • Test integrated systems and perform troubleshooting for AMX/Crestron and DSP systems

  • Make minor programming changes under the direction of an engineer or programmer
  • Fine tune audio video systems to ensure optimal performance

Must‑Haves / Qualifications

  • Minimum of a High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Ability to regularly climb and work from ladders up to heights of 35 feet; lifting equipment, tools, and materials.
  • Employees operating company or personal vehicles for business purposes must be legally authorized to drive, maintain a valid driver’s license and provide proof of coverage, meeting all minimum required insurance coverage as a condition of employment.
  • Employees driving fleet vehicles must meet eligibility requirements; comply with all guidelines, including telematics monitoring, vehicle maintenance schedules, proper use of assigned fuel and toll devices.
Nice‑to‑Haves
  • Formal education in Electronics or related field preferred
  • Minimum 5 years of AV Installation experience preferred
  • A four‑year degree or military experience may be considered in place of job experience
  • Experience with Enterprise VC solutions (Zoom, Microsoft Teams, Google Meet, Bluejeans, Cisco Telepresence, etc.) both hardware and software
  • AVIXA General CTS (Certified Technical Specialist) is preferred
Physical Requirements
  • Frequent standing, walking, and physical activity.
  • Regular bending, kneeling, and reaching.
  • Climbing, overhead work, and working at heights.
  • Use of tools and equipment as required.
  • Frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
  • Heavier lifting may require assistance or mechanical support.
