Job summary

TLC Engineering Solutions, Inc. is seeking a Commissioning Specialist to join our Tampa, FL team. You will lead commissioning activities across diverse projects, with mentorship from senior staff for complex assignments and independence on smaller jobs.

The role offers a defined career path and ongoing training to advance from design review to functional testing. Travel more than 50% is required, and knowledge of building automation, HVAC, and related systems is essential.

Qualifications

• 5+ years in MEP design/construction administration or related.
• LEED accreditation preferred.
• Associates or bachelor's degree preferred.
• Strong understanding of building systems and controls.
• Ability to travel >50%.
• CxT/CxA certification preferred.
• Experience with commissioning and retro-commissioning tasks.
• Knowledge of building automation and related systems including HVAC, plumbing, life safety, lighting, power, low voltage, renewables.

Responsibilities

• Manage commissioning on projects of various sizes with guidance on complex work.
• Work independently on smaller projects and collaborate on larger ones with PMs.
• Gain experience from design review through functional testing.
• Participate in learning and career development within TLC.

We are looking for a Commissioning Specialist to join TLC Engineering Solutions (TLC) in Tampa, FL. The Commissioning Specialist is responsible for all sizes and types of projects, with the opportunity to work independently on smaller projects and the guidance and mentorship of experienced Project Managers and Commissioning Agents for more complex projects. You will have the opportunity to learn and grow your experience from design review to functional testing. TLC provides a defined career path and training at all levels.

Qualifications You’ll Need

• 5+ years progressive experience in MEP design / construction administration, commissioning, building operations, test and balance technician, DDC controls technician, or other related industry experience
• LEED accreditation preferred
• Associates or bachelor’s degree preferred
• Computer hardware/software/network expertise, as appropriate
• Ability to execute building commissioning and retro-commissioning tasks
• Commissioning Certification preferred (ACG CxT or CxA, or equivalent)
• Ability and willingness to travel (more than 50%)
• Knowledge in a majority of the following:
• Building Automation and controls systems
• HVAC systems
• Plumbing systems
• Fire alarm/life safety systems
• Lighting and lighting controls
• Emergency power systems
• Low voltage systems
• Renewable energy systems
