Job summary

Salas O’Brien seeks an Commissioning Manager (Electrical) to lead internal VSC work and coordinate with project teams to deliver fully commissioned buildings. This hybrid role requires 50-70% travel to sites nationwide.

The ideal candidate has substantial MEP commissioning experience, prefers a PE license, and can manage complex test scripts and field testing while ensuring safety and quality standards are met.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in a related field or 5+ years of equivalent MEP construction, commissioning and project management experience.
• Professional Engineering License preferred.
• OSHA 10-hour Construction Safety is required.
• NFPE-70E is Required.
• Ability to read construction drawings.
• Valid driver’s license and car required.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate with general contractors, sub-contractors, vendors and the owner verbally and in writing.
• Cx Design reviews including OPR, BOD, Plans and Specifications.
• Review submittals and shop drawings.
• Conduct Site Observation Visits during construction and prepare Site Observation Reports.
• Develop project-specific test scripts including Level 2–5 tests.
• Conduct onsite execution and witnessing testing.
• Resolve commissioning issues.

Vertical Start-Up Commissioning Group (VSC) is dedicated to improving facility and system start-ups through effective commissioning practices.

Job Summary:

We are searching for a Commissioning Manager (Electrical) to work internally with our VSC Cx Team and externally with other Project Team Members to successfully deliver a fully commissioned building to our clients. This opportunity is a hybrid position and will require approximately 50-70% travel, locally and nationally, to commissioning sites.

In this role, you will:

• Effectively coordinate with general contractors, sub-contractors, vendors and the owner verbally and in writing.
• Cx Design reviews including OPR, BOD, Plans and Specifications.
• Perform reviews of submittals and shop drawings.
• Perform periodic Site Observation Visits during construction and preparing Site Observation Reports.
• Develop project-specific test scripts including Level 2 Installation Verification Checklists, Level 4 Functional Performance Tests (FPT), and Level 5 Integrated Systems Tests (IST).
• Conduct onsite execution and witnessing testing.
• Manage the resolution of Commissioning issues.

You will be a great fit if you have/are:

• Comfortable working around live components, three phase AC Power Systems, Direct Current (DC) power systems, and fire alarm systems.
• A high-level understating of engineering knowledge, specifically in the built environment.
• Experience in design and/or construction of hyperscale Data Centers.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Respond thoughtfully and effectively to sensitive situations.
• Intermediate analytical skills able be able to analyze relevant information and provide thoughtful solutions.
• Experience and detailed knowledge of Medium Voltage (MV) Gear, Generators, Switchgear, UPS Systems, Static Transfer Switches (STS) and Power Distribution Unit (PDU) operation, as well as LOTO requirements.
• Knowledge and understanding of equipment and systems Sequences of Operations development and documentation for functional test scripts.
• Equipment start-up and commissioning experience (witnessing contractor activation and functional testing of equipment and systems using functional test scripts)
• Attention to detail and excellent organizational skills.

Required Skills/abilities:

• Bachelor's degree in a related field or 5+ years of equivalent MEP construction, commissioning and project management experience.
• Professional Engineering License preferred.
• OSHA 10-hour Construction Safety is required.
• OSHA 30-hour Construction Safety is not required but preferred.
• Knowledge of Building Automation Systems is a plus.
• Field experience is preferred.
• NFPE-70E is Required
• Ability to read construction drawings.
• Valid driver’s license and car required.

Compensation:

$110,000 - $140,000
