Job summary

Smith Seckman Reid, Inc. (SSR) seeks a Commissioning (Cx) Engineer in Training I in Houston, TX.

You will assist in creating commissioning plans, prepare test procedures, and conduct site visits with project managers to learn workflow and design conformance. Ideal candidates hold a bachelor’s or master’s degree in engineering from an ABET-accredited college, plan to study for the FE exam in year one, and are proficient with Microsoft Office and industry software such as Revit and AutoCAD;

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in engineering from an ABET-accredited college.
• Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
• Knowledge of engineering theories/methodologies and industry software (Revit and AutoCAD).
• Study and Pass FE exam within first year

Responsibilities

• Prepare commissioning plans, which are made up of pre-functional checklists, functional performance tests, and the training matrix from contract documents prepared by the project design and construction team
• Assists with data input for Cx checklists
• Prepares test procedures for checking the operation of systems
• Reads and interprets blueprints, technical drawings, and shop drawings
• Performs project job site visits during construction to observe and learn about conformance to design specifications and owner expectations; these visits are performed with or without senior technical staff
• Attends training to become a certified commissioning provider
• Actively attends in-house training sessions to obtain knowledge in necessary technical areas
• Assist the project team in the development of technical documentation, proposals, and presentations
• Acts and performs activities inside and outside the organization in a manner consistent with ethical engineering standards
• Performs any other duties or responsibilities as assigned
