Electrical Commissioning Lead – Data Center Construction
Location: Texas (Travel as required)
My client are hiring for multiple Electrical Commissioning Leads to support the delivery of large-scale data center projects across Texas. This role will be responsible for leading the electrical commissioning process from pre-functional through integrated systems testing, ensuring all systems are delivered safely, on schedule, and to client specifications.
This is a high-impact position working alongside project management, MEP teams, and client stakeholders on hyperscale and enterprise data center builds.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead all electrical commissioning activities across assigned data center projects
- Manage and coordinate Level 1–5 commissioning processes (pre-functional through IST)
- Review and validate commissioning scripts, procedures, and test documentation
- Oversee installation verification and ensure systems meet design intent and operational requirements
- Coordinate with MEP subcontractors, vendors, and third-party commissioning agents
- Support QA/QC processes related to electrical systems (switchgear, UPS, generators, PDUs, etc.)
- Identify, track, and drive resolution of deficiencies and punch list items
- Lead and participate in client walkthroughs, testing demonstrations, and sign-offs
- Ensure all commissioning activities adhere to safety standards, SOPs, and project schedules
- Provide regular updates to project leadership on commissioning progress and risks
Key Systems Exposure
- Medium & low voltage distribution
- Switchgear & transformers
- UPS systems (static & rotary)
- PDUs, RPPs, and busway systems
- SCADA / BMS / EPMS integration
- Grounding and bonding systems
Qualifications
- 3+ years of experience in electrical construction, commissioning, or mission critical environments
- 2+ years of direct data center commissioning experience (hyperscale preferred)
- Strong understanding of electrical systems in mission critical environments
- Experience with commissioning processes (Level 1–5 / IST)
- Ability to read and interpret electrical drawings, schematics, and specifications
- Proven experience working for a General Contractor or Commissioning Agent
- Strong coordination and stakeholder management skills
- Willingness to travel across Texas projects as required
Preferred
- Background with major data center clients (hyperscale / colocation)
- Experience on ground-up data center builds
- Electrical license or engineering background (not essential but advantageous)
- Familiarity with commissioning platforms (CxAlloy, BIM 360, etc.)
