Job description

Edge Inference Inc. is building the nationwide AI inference network — a distributed fabric of Inference Points that puts GPU compute within single-digit milliseconds of where inference is actually consumed. Training happens in a handful of giant campuses; inferencehappens everywhere, continuously, and it is latency-bound, sovereignty-bound, and cost-bound in ways trainingis not. Anchoredby 348 Prime Group Holdings-owned sites across 28 U.S. statesand 3 Canadian provinces, we convert an existing national land position into the densest inference footprint in North America — 200 Inference Points energized within 36 months. That target is only reachable if every IP is cut from the same frozen design.

POSITION OVERVIEW

The Commissioning Engineer owns the new facility commissioning program for all Edge deployments - developing 1ST (Integrated Systems Testing) protocols, overseeing FAT (Factory

Acceptance Testing) at vendor facilities, managing SAT (Site Acceptance Testing) execution, preparing Uptime Institute ATD documentation packages, and issuing COD (Commercial Operation Date) readiness certifications. This role travels extensively to active construction sites and is the primary technical interface with GCs, MEP subcontractors, and equipment manufacturers during the commissioning phase.

CORE RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Develop facility-specific commissioning plans: 1ST protocols for each facility type (Hub/Satellite/Spoke), test procedure development for all MEP systems, testing team resource planning, and commissioning schedule management.
  • Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT): conduct or witness FAT at vendor facilities for major equipment (switchgear, UPS, generators, chillers, CDUs, BESS); document test results, identify deficiencies, and track to resolution before equipment ships.
  • Site Acceptance Testing (SAT): manage on-site SAT execution - power-on sequence, system integration testing, redundancy verification testing (failure mode testing for all N+1 and 2N systems), and BMS/EPMS integration validation.
  • Integrated Systems Testing (1ST): develop and execute 1ST scenarios that simulate real-world failure modes: utility power failure, UPS module failure, chiller failure, generator start failure - and verify facility responds correctly to each scenario.
  • Uptime Institute ATD documentation: prepare complete Tier Certification documentation package for Uptime Institute review; ensure all systems meet documented Tier Ill or Tier IV topology requirements.
  • BESS commissioning: develop and execute BESS commissioning protocol - string testing, BMS configuration verification, inverter commissioning, grid interconnection protection testing, and initial charge/discharge cycle validation.
  • Liquid cooling commissioning: execute CDU commissioning procedures - hydronic loop fill and bleed, pressure testing, flow rate balancing, temperature differential verification, and GPU cold plate integration testing.
  • COD readiness certification: issue formal COD readiness certification to CTO and VP Operations when all commissioning milestones are complete and facility is operating within specification; prepare COD package for tenant onboarding.
  • Punch list management: maintain and track all commissioning deficiencies to resolution; never authorize COD with open punch list items that affect critical systems reliability.
  • Travel requirement: 50-70% to active construction and commissioning sites nationally.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
  • 7+ years of commissioning experience in mission-critical data center environments; demonstrated experience commissioning Tier Ill or Tier IV facilities from SAT through COD.
  • Uptime Institute Accredited Tier Designer (ATD) certification strongly preferred; AABC Commissioning Group (CxA) or ASHRAE Level 1/11 Commissioning certification considered.
  • Deep technical expertise in critical MEP systems commissioning: switchgear, UPS, generator systems, chilledwater plants, precisioncooling, and BMS/EPMSintegration.
  • Experience writing1ST protocols and managing integrated failure mode testing programs.
  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related field required.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
  • CDCDP certification; PE (Electrical or Mechanical) a significant advantage.
  • BESS commissioning experience: LFP battery systems, inverter commissioning, and grid protection relay testing.
  • Liquid cooling commissioning experience: CDU systems, direct liquid cooling integration, and hydronic system startup procedures.
  • Experience with Uptime Institute Tier Certification process: ATD application preparation and Tier Certification audit participation.
