Facilities Development and Management Seeks a Commissioning Agent II to serve as the commissioning authority to lead commissioning and retro-commissioning projects for existing buildings and support new construction. This role requires extensive expertise in complex building systems to advance campus energy and sustainability goals through rigorous performance testing, system validation, and the operational optimization of HVAC mechanical systems and controls. This position is based on the Tempe campus but will require working another campus locations based on program need. This position will remain open until filled.
Activities are performed both in an environmentally controlled office setting and in the field, including mechanical rooms, electrical rooms, above-ceiling spaces, rooftops, and active construction sites; work involves exposure to varying temperatures, noise, dust, and limited-clearance spaces. Frequent standing, walking, bending, kneeling, crouching, and reaching to inspect, test, and observe building systems and equipment. Regular use of ladders, step stools, and lifts to access equipment located above ceilings, on rooftops, or in elevated mechanical spaces. Frequent lifting, carrying, pushing, and pulling up to 25 pounds (e.g., tools, testing equipment, ladders); occasional lifting of heavier items with assistance. Ability to work in tight or confined spaces (e.g., crawl spaces, ceiling plenums, mechanical rooms) for extended periods. Required to wear personal protective equipment (PPE) as needed, such as hard hats, safety glasses, hearing protection, and steel‑toed boots, depending on site conditions. Drives a University vehicle and/or cart to campus sites, and may travel between multiple buildings or job sites during a single day. Ability to distinguish colors and read gauges, labels, and equipment displays, sometimes in low-light or high-noise environments.
Monday – Friday; 8:00am – 5:00pm
Salary Range: $85,000 - $102,000 per year, commensurate experience and education.
Facilities Development and Management at ASU employment requires current eligibility to legally work in the United States. Facilities Development and Management will not be a sponsor for this position.
This position is located at the ASU Tempe campus, 1551 S. Rural Road, Tempe AZ, 85287, but will require working from other campuses depending on operational needs. This position is considered safety/security sensitive and will include a fingerprint check. Employment is contingent upon successful passing of all background, including fingerprint checks. Must possess a valid Arizona driver's license (minimum of Class D) upon employment and maintain throughout employment. Post‑offer of employment, selected candidate must possess an acceptable driving record which is 5 or fewer points in the most recent 39‑month period from date of hire.
Employee must possess a valid US Driver’s license of the appropriate class and required endorsements throughout employment. This position may require driving.
