Job summary

Affiliated Engineers, Inc. (AEI) is seeking a Commissioning Engineer I for our Nashville office.

The role focuses on energy-efficient building solutions, field observations, and coordinating system tests to support healthcare, science, and technology projects. Ideal candidates hold a bachelor’s in engineering, knowledge of building systems, and familiarity with commissioning standards; FE and a commissioning certification are preferred.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in mechanical, electrical, or architectural engineering from an accredited program.
• Knowledge of building systems across disciplines and at least one discipline (HVAC, plumbing, electrical, lighting, controls, or building envelope).
• Familiarity with codes, guidelines and standards related to commissioning, design and construction.

Responsibilities

• Develop and coordinate system test procedures for commissioning.
• Organize user training sessions for clients and staff.
• Administer functional performance tests and document results.
• Conduct field observations and participate in progress meetings.
• Assist in document control and project administration.

Commissioning Engineer I - XX Office

As a Commissioning Engineer I in our XX office, you will help us empower our clients to achieve energy-efficient building solutions, save global environments, and create a better, greener future for all.

Why we need you

In this role, you will carry out activities related to project construction and contract administration including developing and coordinating system test procedures, organizing user training sessions, administering functional performance tests, conducting field observations, attending progress meetings, and assisting in document control.

Expertise of our most successful Commissioning Engineer I

• Bachelor's degree in mechanical, electrical, or architectural engineering (or another engineering discipline) from an accredited program.
• General understanding of building systems across disciplines and fundamental knowledge in at least one discipline such as HVAC, plumbing/piping, electrical, lighting, instrumentation and controls, or building envelope systems.
• Knowledge of and ability to interpret codes, guidelines and standards related to commissioning, design and construction.
• Experience in computer operation for engineering calculation programs and ability to learn computer-aided drafting/BIM software for the purpose accessing and interpreting design requirements.
• Valid driver's license and state required vehicle insurance.

• Passed the Fundamentals of Engineering exam (FE).
• Commissioning certification with a nationally recognized professional body.
• Ability to combine personal judgment with a wide variety of data and information to implement commissioning criteria.
