Key responsibilities include:
Lead classroom instruction, yard practices, and road driving training; introduce all safety concepts and regulations, defensive driving and safe driving techniques, vehicle inspection procedures, and manual and digital record keeping; closely monitor and document student progress, identify any gaps and provide individualized training and remedial instruction as necessary; maintain proper and accurate student records and documentation, including student attendance, competency records, and progress reports; maintain a professional, respectful, and positive learning environment; serve as liaison to third-party tester.
Required Education:High School Diploma or GED
Required Experience:A MINIMUM of 5 years verifiable tractor trailer driving experience; strong knowledge of commercial vehicle safety, applicable FMCSA and state CDL requirements;
Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: - Must possess a clean driving record: no more than 2 driving offenses or accidents in the past 2 years and no DUI in the past 15 years
- Must be physically able to operate motor vehicle, conduct vehicle inspections, and report mechanical and safety concerns
- Must be at least 26 years of age
- Have ability to effectively communicate technical information and safe driving skills to students with varying levels of driving experience
- Provide constructive feedback and individualized coaching to students
- Must be available to teach classes Monday through Friday, day or evening classes
- Strong organizational, documentation, and interpersonal skills
- Strong work ethic coupled with tenacity, self-motivation, and problem solving skills.
- Serve as a role model and mentor for students entering the commercial transportation industry.
Required Licenses or Certifications:MUST have a valid CDL Class A license.
Preferred Education:Driver Training Instructor License is not required, but is preferred
Preferred Experience:Prior teaching or driver-trainer experience
