Job summary

Jobot is seeking a Permanent Commercial Superintendent to lead field operations on base building, office, retail, and interior construction projects. You will ensure projects are completed on time, within budget, and to the highest safety and quality standards in a fast-paced environment in Herndon, VA.

The ideal candidate has 5+ years in commercial construction, strong leadership, scheduling and budgeting skills, and a solid understanding of building codes and LEED practices.

Qualifications

• Experience with base building, tenant improvements, scheduling and budgeting.

Job Details

Responsibilities

• Oversee all stages of project life cycle including planning, execution, and completion.
• Manage and coordinate daily onsite activities, ensuring all work is progressing on schedule and within budget.
• Collaborate with architects, engineers, and other construction professionals.
• Review and understand architectural drawings, specifications, and building codes.
• Ensure all safety procedures are followed, creating a safe work environment for all staff and contractors.
• Manage and resolve any issues, conflicts, or discrepancies that arise during the construction process.
• Conduct regular site inspections to ensure quality control and adherence to project specifications.
• Communicate effectively with clients, contractors, and team members, providing regular updates on project status.
• Prepare and maintain project documentation, including schedules, budgets, and progress reports.

Qualifications

• A minimum of 5 years of experience in a similar role within the construction industry.
• Proven experience in base building, retail, tenant improvement, scheduling, budgeting, site management, construction management, construction safety, and building codes.
• Strong knowledge of construction methods, materials, and legal regulations.
• Excellent leadership and project management skills, with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
• Exceptional problem-solving skills, with a proactive approach to identifying and resolving issues.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively communicate with clients, contractors, and team members.
• Proficient in using project management software and other relevant computer applications.
• A degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or a related field is preferred.
• Must hold relevant certifications in construction safety and building codes.
• Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
• Must be physically fit and able to work in a variety of weather conditions.
