Job summary

Citadel Roofing and Solar is seeking a skilled solar electrical technician in Sacramento to install equipment and batteries for commercial PV systems. You will ensure compliance with NEC and local codes, lead the crew, and may assist with roof work as needed.

The role requires 2–5 years as an electrician and solar industry experience, with strong drawing interpretation and troubleshooting skills. Travel and heights are expected in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

• Journeyman Electrical License or state cert preferred.
• 3‑phase systems experience required.
• 2–5 years as an electrician preferred.
• 2–5 years in the solar industry
• Strong ability to read electrical drawings and troubleshoot.

Responsibilities

• Install solar electrical equipment and batteries for commercial systems.
• Ensure installations meet NEC and local codes.
• Lead the solar crew; assist with roof work as needed.
• Perform interconnections and proper breaker/tap work.
• Hang equipment, plan conduits, and order materials as required.
• Complete wire terminations and torque to specs.

Job description

Responsibilities:

• Successful installation of all the solar electrical equipment and batteries for commercial photovoltaic systems
• Be responsible for ensuring systems meet company standard job specifications, the National Electrical Code and relevant local codes
• Lead for entire solar crew and may be required to help with roof work as needed
• Perform utility interconnections, including breaker tie-ins, line side taps, load side taps, etc.
• Must be able to hang all electrical equipment and plan conduit runs and order material as needed
• Responsible for completing all wire terminations and torquing wires up to 750kcmil
• Work independently with minimum supervision in a fast-paced, high-growth environment

Qualifications:

• A Journeyman Electrical License / State Certified Electrician preferred
• Experience with 3‑phase systems
• 2-5 years of experience as an electrician
• 2-5 years of experience in the solar industry
• Advanced proficiency in reading design documents and electrical drawings
• Advanced proficiency in troubleshooting
• Advanced knowledge of NEC codes
• Proficient in conduit bending up to 1-1/4" EMT
• Must be willing and able to climb ladders, stairs and work on rooftops. Must be comfortable with heights.
• Excellent customer service skills
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Must have a high level of professionalism
• Applicants should be in good physical shape with no lifting restrictions
• Ability to work well with others
• Must be reliable
• Must have most electrical tools (some to be provided)
• Must be able to successfully pass a pre‑employment physical and drug screen
• Previous experience with interconnections a plus
• Experience with KCMIL wiring / 2"+ conduit a plus
