Job summary

Hotwire Communications Ltd. is seeking a Commercial Security Technician to service and install commercial security systems, including access control, video surveillance, security, and networking.

The role requires hands-on installation of cabinets, cameras, and radios, plus cabling work and testing of system components. Qualifications include a minimum of 3 years in installing and testing cables, fiber optic experience, and a valid state driver’s license.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent required; Associate degree in Internet Technologies preferred.
• Minimum 3 years’ experience installing, testing and troubleshooting cable, phone and internet.
• Fiber optic cabling experience and basic understanding of computer networks (Cat5/Cat6, Fiber, Copper).
• Must have a valid driver’s license in the state hired and be comfortable working at heights.

Responsibilities

• Service and install commercial security systems, including upgrades and additions.
• Install cabinets, cameras, and radios as required.
• Run conduit and underground cabling to support installations.
• Explain testing and operation of system components to customers.
• Attend classroom and field training as required; participate in on-call rotation.
• Other duties as assigned.

Job description

The Commercial Security Technician performs service and installations of commercial security including access control, video surveillance, security, and networking.

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Service and Install commercial security systems, including existing system upgrades and additions, while demonstrating complete understanding of the use and function of all required personal protective equipment.
• Install cabinets, cameras, and radios as required.
• Install conduit and underground cabling to support system installations.
• Installations require knowledge and ability to understand and explain:
• Testing system components.
• Attend classroom and field training as required.
• Work on an on-call schedule rotation.
• Other duties as assigned.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

• High School Diploma or equivalent required, Associates Degree in Internet Technologies is preferred
• Must have minimum of 3 years’ experience installing, testing and troubleshooting cable, phone and internet
• Must have Fiber Optic Cabling experience and basic understanding of computer networks and knowledge of Cat5 and Cat6, Fiber, and Copper
• Must have active and clean, non-restrictive, state issued driver’s license in State where hired.
• Must be comfortable working on a ladder and all heights
• Ability to work days, weekends, evenings and holidays and participate with on-call rotation as needed
