Job summary

Ferrous Processing and Trading (FPT), a Cleveland-Cliffs subsidiary, seeks a Commercial Analyst at its Detroit, MI office. • Bachelor's degree or equivalent in Finance, Economics, Business Administration, Supply Chain Management, Engineering, or related field.
• Entry-level: 0-2 years of experience.
• Strong internship or academic project experience in analytics, finance, or commodities preferred.
• Strong quantitative and problem-solving abilities.
• Ability to identify abnormalities in datasets.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Platform.
• Exposure to Power BI, Tableau, or similar tools preferred.

• Monitor non-ferrous metal market trends using internal and external sources.
• Track domestic and export pricing, including key industry benchmarks.
• Summarize daily/weekly market intelligence reports for internal stakeholders.
• Assist in analyzing buy/sell pricing, spreads, and margins across scrap grades and regions.
• Support commercial teams with pricing inputs for customer quotes and supplier negotiations.
• Develop basic pricing models to evaluate deal economics.
• Collect, organize, and analyze data related to scrap purchases, sales, shipments, and inventory.
• Prepare reports, dashboards, and presentations to support leadership decisions.
• Identify trends, anomalies, and opportunities within commercial performance data.
• Prioritize and respond to daily customer & supplier reporting requests.
• Provide support for Purchase and Sale order entry.
• Lead contact and managing details on all sides of non-ferrous brokerage documentation.
• Assist sale and procurement managers with inventory management details.
• Other duties as assigned.

This role offers hands-on exposure to the recycled metals and ferrous scrap markets, supporting pricing strategy, market analysis, and commercial decision-making across domestic and global steel supply chains.

Summary of Responsibilities

• Monitor non-ferrous metal market trends (e.g., Comex, LME, Platts) using internal and external sources (e.g., Argus, Fastmarkets)
• Track domestic and export pricing, including key industry benchmarks
• Summarize daily/weekly market intelligence reports for internal stakeholders
• Assist in analyzing buy/sell pricing, spreads, and margins across scrap grades and regions
• Support commercial teams with pricing inputs for customer quotes and supplier negotiations
• Develop basic pricing models to evaluate deal economics

Minimum Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent in Finance, Economics, Business Administration, Supply Chain Management, Engineering, or related field
