Job summary

The City of Eugene is seeking a Commercial Plans Examiner to join the Planning & Development, Building & Permit Services division. This position is onsite at the Atrium Building in Eugene, OR, and requires coordinating with multiple internal teams to ensure code compliance for commercial and multifamily projects.

Responsibilities include plan reviews, coordination with architects and engineers, and serving as a primary contact for permit applicants.

Qualifications

• Two years’ professional building design or plan review experience.
• Bachelor’s degree in a related field; Master’s preferred.
• Valid driver’s license and ability to pass a background check.
• Professional certifications listed in the posting are required or preferred.

Responsibilities

• Serve as primary contact for internal plan review staff across multiple review teams.
• Review plans for conformance with State and City codes and prepare comments.
• Coordinate reviews with other departments and external agencies.
• Inspect plans and documents for code compliance and proper installation.
• Act as Building Official designee for code interpretation and enforcement.
• Attend committees and contribute to policy discussions.
