Job summary

City of St. Joseph seeks a Commercial Development & Licenses/Permits Manager to coordinate submission of site and construction documents for new and existing commercial projects.

You will lead plan review coordination with city staff and keep customers informed of progress. You will supervise Permit Clerks, oversee permitting and licensing, manage liquor and trade licenses, and handle budget-related clerical tasks.

Qualifications

• Experience in customer service or building operations.
• Ability to communicate code questions to staff and outside resources.
• Ability to prepare clear reports with findings and recommendations.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office and related software.
• Able to develop and optimize work processes.
• Ability to work independently and follow directions.
• Valid driver's license required.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate commercial plan review with customers and city staff.
• Supervise permit clerks and oversee licensing and permitting.
• Manage liquor and trade license processes and renewals.
• Coordinate special events permits and related applications.
• Prepare budget-related documents and council materials.
• Attend and record minutes for PlanningCommission and related meetings.
• Maintain internal controls for cash, payments, and deposits.
