Job summary

Standard Supply, a large HVAC supply company with locations across Texas, Oklahoma and Arizona, is seeking a Commercial New Construction Estimator in Irving, TX. You will review project plans, prepare HVAC estimates, and support bidding for commercial/multifamily projects, coordinating with Business Development, vendors, and customers to ensure competitive pricing and timely takeoffs.

Qualifications

• Minimum 5 years of mechanical HVAC estimating/takeoffs experience.
• Experience reviewing light commercial and multifamily mechanical plans.
• Ability to read and interpret drawings, specifications, bid forms, safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedures.
• Speak effectively before groups of customers or employees.
• Experience with estimating techniques and cost control.
• Ability to perform detailed equipment & material take-offs.
• Detail oriented and able to tackle multiple projects in a fast-paced environment.
• Knowledge of Estimation software on GRDS such as Fast Duct and cross-reference tools is encouraged.

Responsibilities

• Review project documents and understand scope of work and identify pricing gaps.

• Develop and maintain resource information on products, vendors, subcontractors, government requirements, etc.
• Develop relationships with customers for better bid-day communication and possible advantages.
• Assist Business Development with procurement strategies and review needs; attend sales activities if needed.

Commercial New Construction Estimator

About The Role

The Commercial New Construction Estimator is responsible for reviewing project plans and specifications, preparing accurate HVAC estimates, and supporting the bidding process for commercial and multifamily construction projects. This role works closely with Business Development, vendors, subcontractors, and customers to ensure competitive pricing, accurate takeoffs, and successful bid execution.

The ideal candidate will have strong mechanical HVAC estimating experience, the ability to interpret construction documents, and a detail-oriented mindset capable of managing multiple projects in a fast-paced environment. This position plays a critical role in identifying project opportunities, minimizing pricing gaps, and supporting overall business growth through accurate and timely estimates.

Key Responsibilities

• Review and evaluate bid requests
• Prepare weekly bid board calendar and ensure timely completion of pricing
• Review estimates and revisions for completeness and accuracy
• Review project documents and understand scope of work as well as identify any potential pricing gaps
• Prepare cost analysis in computer by recapitulating material, equipment, and costs incurred i of items
• Generate an estimate where predetermined standard(s) are not available
• Develop and maintain resource information on products, vendors, subcontractors, government requirements, etc.
• Develop relationships with customers for better bid-day communication and possible advantages
• Assist Business Development with procurement strategies, suggest leads, discuss possible selling points and review needs. This includes attending sales activities if needed.

Qualifications

• Minimum 5 years of experience in mechanical HVAC estimating/takeoffs or equivalent combination of education and training.
• Must have experience reviewing light commercial and multifamily mechanical plans.
• Ability to read and interpret documents such as drawings, specifications, bid forms, safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
• Speak effectively before groups of customers or employees.
• Experience with estimating techniques and cost control.
• Ability to perform detailed equipment & material take-offs.
• Detail oriented and willing to tackle various ongoing projects in a fast-paced environment.
• Well versed in the current industry trends.
• Excellent multitasking skills, with the ability to perform duties outside of scope of work when necessary.
• Knowledge of Estimation software on GRDS such as "Fast Duct " & cross reference tools.is strongly encouraged.
