Job summary

Energy Jobline CVL is seeking an experienced Commercial Manager to own the commercial and contractual aspects of bespoke marine and industrial power projects based in Ipswich. You will work closely with the Managing Director and cross-functional teams from tender through to project delivery.

The role demands strong commercial judgement to protect margin, cash flow and contractual position while maintaining robust relationships with customers and suppliers.

Qualifications

• This role requires commercial management experience within engineering, manufacturing, marine, energy or capital equipment.
• Experience in tender pricing, margins, cash flow and contract variations is essential.
• Ability to negotiate with customers, suppliers and subcontractors and manage risk.

Responsibilities

• Own and maintain the sales forecast and align with business priorities.
• Control stock levels, balance availability and working capital with forecast.
• Validate pricing, margins, payment profiles and commercial risks.
• Negotiate terms with customers, suppliers and subcontractors within authority limits.
• Ensure smooth handover from sales to project delivery and monitor margins.
• Manage notices, records and approvals; escalate commercial risks as needed.
• Support post-project reviews on margin and lessons learned.
• Provide concise commercial reporting to MD and leadership.
• Develop and maintain commercial controls for a growing £16m business.
• Collaborate across Sales, Engineering, Projects, Procurement, Operations and Finance.
