Job Summary:
The Commercial Maintenance Technician is responsible for the general maintenance, repair, and upkeep of commercial buildings and facilities. This includes performing routine inspections, troubleshooting systems, and ensuring the facility operates safely and efficiently. The ideal candidate is skilled in multiple trades such as, electrical, plumbing, carpentry, and general repairs.
Key Responsibilities:
- Respond promptly to service calls and work orders involving minor and major repairs.
- Work closely with the internal Customer Service Team to efficiently and effectively close out work orders.
- Troubleshoot and repair mechanical systems and building equipment.
- Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities and repairs using CMMS.
- Assist with installation and relocation of equipment and office furniture.
- Perform routine inspections of facilities and report any safety hazards or issues.
- Ensure compliance with building codes, OSHA regulations, and safety standards.
- Coordinate with vendors, contractors, and external service providers as needed.
- Maintain a clean and organized work environment.
- Participate in on-call rotation and respond to emergency maintenance issues after hours.
Education & Experience:
- High school diploma or GED required; trade school or technical certification preferred.
- Minimum 2–4 years of experience in commercial building maintenance or a similar role.
Skills:
- Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving abilities.
- Excellent time management and organizational skills.
- Basic computer skills for maintenance software and email communication.
- Knowledge of HVAC, plumbing, electrical, and general building systems.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and technical manuals.
Certifications (Preferred but not required):
- EPA Universal Certification.
- OSHA 10/30.
- Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation.
Working Conditions:
- Frequent walking, standing, bending, and lifting up to 50 lbs.
- Exposure to varying weather conditions, heights, and confined spaces.
- May require overtime or emergency on-call work outside normal hours.
