A well-established law firm in Columbia is seeking an experienced Commercial Litigation Paralegal to join its growing litigation team. This position offers the opportunity to work on complex commercial litigation matters while providing critical support to attorneys throughout all phases of the litigation process.
The ideal candidate is highly organized, detail-oriented, and experienced in managing litigation matters from case inception through trial preparation.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist attorneys in preparing for trials, hearings, depositions, and mediations by organizing and managing case materials.
- Draft, file, and serve legal documents, including complaints, motions, discovery requests, subpoenas, and related pleadings.
- Conduct legal research and analyze statutes, case law, and other relevant legal resources.
- Manage and maintain case files, ensuring accurate organization of both electronic and physical records.
- Coordinate all aspects of the discovery process, including document collection, review, production, and tracking.
- Communicate professionally with clients, expert witnesses, opposing counsel, and court personnel regarding case matters.
- Assist with trial preparation by organizing exhibits, preparing witness files, coordinating logistics, and maintaining trial notebooks.
- Monitor court deadlines and litigation calendars to ensure compliance with procedural requirements and case schedules.
- Support attorneys with day-to-day case management and strategic litigation initiatives.
Qualifications:
- Associate's degree in Paralegal Studies, Bachelor's degree, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Paralegal certification is preferred but not required.
- Minimum of 5 years of litigation paralegal experience, preferably within commercial litigation.
- Strong understanding of litigation procedures, court rules, legal terminology, and discovery practices.
- Excellent legal research, writing, and analytical skills.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and legal case management software.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to work effectively with clients and legal professionals.
