Job summary

FCCI Insurance Group in Ridgeland, MS is seeking a Commercial Lines Underwriter Trainee. You will learn to underwrite new and renewal commercial accounts, applying guidelines, rating rules, and insurance laws while building relationships with agents and insureds.

The comprehensive training combines classroom instruction and on-the-job shadowing, with a clear path to evaluating accounts and making recommendations.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Risk Management & Insurance or related field.
• Excellent communication, negotiation, relationship building, interpersonal and organizational skills.
• Ability to analyze, define and solve problems; the use of good judgment and decision-making.
• Ability to determine customer needs, provide solutions and price business appropriately.
• Basic knowledge of underwriting processes, coverages, tools and company products and services.
• Basic working knowledge of the ISO Underwriting Manual, AAIS, NCCI and coverage forms.

Responsibilities

• Underwrite risk in a trainee capacity and learn guidelines, rating rules and laws.
• Develop relationships with agents and insureds within the assigned territory.
• Participate in an extensive training program with on-the-job shadowing to master underwriting duties.
