Job summary

Burns & Wilcox, a leading wholesale insurance broker, seeks a Senior Commercial Underwriter/Account Executive in Chicago. You will build and grow a book of business, manage agency relationships, and lead client interactions while executing strategic marketing plans for new and renewal business.

You will rate, quote, and bind risks for large or complex cases, develop referrals to brokerage facilities, monitor performance metrics, and mentor junior underwriters.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Minimum 3 years of commercial lines underwriting or brokerage experience.
• Strong sales and marketing abilities.
• Proven organization skills and attention to detail.
• Insurance license or designations preferred (CPCU, CIC).

Responsibilities

• Build, maintain, and grow a book of business.

• Create and execute marketing plan to increase new and renewal business.
• Rate, quote and bind risks for large or complex renewals and new business.

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education and experience
• Minimum 3 years of commercial lines underwriting or brokerage experience required, excess & surplus experience preferred
• Demonstrated proficiency in sales and marketing
• Proven organization skills and ability with a strong attention to detailInterest in continued education and professional development
• Insurance license, CPCU, CIC or comparable designations preferred

Compensation Package

• Base salary from $75k-$115k annually & sales incentive bonus plan
