Job summary

A leading insurance brokerage in Plantation, Florida is seeking an experienced Underwriter to manage agency relationships and develop a book of business. The ideal candidate will have a Bachelor's degree, at least 3 years of commercial lines underwriting experience, and strong organizational skills. This position offers competitive base compensation and an incentive bonus plan. Benefits include employer-paid continuing education and comprehensive health coverage.

Qualifications

  • 3+ years of commercial lines underwriting experience required, excess & surplus lines experience preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Build, maintain, and grow a book of business.
  • Manage agency relationships and serve as lead client contact.
  • Create and execute marketing plan to increase new and renewal business.
  • Rate, quote and bind each risk for renewals and new business.
  • Lead, train, and develop Assistant and Associate Underwriters.
  • Monitor metrics to drive renewal retention, premium growth, and loss ratio.
  • Lead, train, and develop Assistant and Associate Underwriters.
  • Travel as needed to foster client relationships.
  • Competitive base compensation with incentive bonus; employer-paid CE via Kaufman Institute.

  • Monitor key metrics to formulate corrective action impacting new business hit, renewal retention, premium growth, and loss ratio
  • Lead, train, and develop Assistant and Associate Underwriters
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • 3+ years of commercial lines underwriting experience required, excess & surplus lines experience preferred
  • Demonstrated proficiency in sales and marketing
  • Proven organization skills and ability with a strong attention to detail
  • Interest in continued education and professional development
  • Travel if necessary in order to foster strong client relationships
