Job summary

CooperWorks Industries, part of the MAC Medical family, is seeking a Commercial Millwork Estimator to review project plans, prepare cost estimates, and support sales and project teams during bidding.

The ideal candidate has strong analytical skills, 5+ years estimating in commercial millwork or laminated products, and the ability to manage multiple projects in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

• Degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Architecture, or related field preferred.
• 5+ years estimating experience in commercial millwork or related fields.
• Experience with architects, contractors, and project specs is highly desirable.

Responsibilities

• Review drawings, specs, and bid documents for commercial projects.
• Prepare detailed cost estimates for laminated products, casework, countertops, and related materials.
• Perform quantity takeoffs and assess labor, materials, hardware, and installation needs.
• Solicit and evaluate pricing from suppliers and subs contractors.
• Generate competitive quotations, bids, and proposals within deadlines.
• Collaborate with sales, PM, engineering, and production teams for feasibility and accuracy.
• Identify cost-saving opportunities and value-engineering options.
• Maintain accurate estimating records and pricing databases.
• Participate in project handoff meetings to ensure smooth production transition.
• Stay current with industry trends, materials, manufacturing processes, and market pricing.

CooperWorks Industries, part of the MAC Medical family of companies, is a growing custom manufacturing operation located in Millstadt, Illinois, approximately 20 miles from downtown St. Louis. We specialize in custom cabinetry, commercial casework, countertops, fixtures, millwork, and laminated products.

JOB SUMMARY

The Commercial Millwork Estimator is responsible for reviewing project plans and specifications, preparing accurate cost estimates, and supporting the sales and project management teams throughout the bidding process. The ideal candidate has strong analytical skills, experience with commercial millwork or laminated products, and the ability to manage multiple projects in a fast-paced environment.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

• Review architectural drawings, specifications, and bid documents for commercial projects.


• Prepare detailed and accurate cost estimates for laminated products, casework, countertops, and related materials.


• Perform quantity takeoffs and assess labor, material, hardware, and installation requirements.


• Solicit and evaluate pricing from suppliers and subcontractors.


• Generate competitive quotations, bids, and proposals within established deadlines.


• Collaborate with sales, project management, engineering, and production teams to ensure project feasibility and accuracy.


• Identify potential cost-saving opportunities and value-engineering alternatives.

Requirements

REQUIRED SKILLS & KNOWLEDGE

• Strong knowledge of commercial laminated products, architectural casework, cabinetry, or millwork construction.


• Ability to read and interpret architectural drawings, blueprints, and project specifications.


• Experience performing quantity takeoffs and preparing detailed estimates.


• Proficiency with estimating software, Microsoft Excel, and ERP/project management systems.


• Strong mathematical, analytical, and problem-solving skills.


• Excellent communication and organizational abilities.


• Ability to prioritize tasks and manage multiple bid opportunities simultaneously.


• High attention to detail and commitment to accuracy.

EDUCATION & QUALIFICATIONS

• Associate's degree or bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Architecture, or a related field preferred.


• Minimum of 5 years of estimating experience in commercial millwork, casework, cabinetry, laminated products, or related construction industries.


• Experience working with commercial contractors, architects, and project specifications is highly desirable.


• Familiarity with manufacturing processes and production environments is a plus.
