Grand Canyon University in Phoenix, AZ seeks a full-time Commercial Kitchen Equipment Supervisor to lead the Facilities team responsible for the planning, maintenance, and operation of campus kitchen equipment. The role requires supervision, budget oversight, and adherence to safety standards.

You will supervise staff, manage budgets, ensure safety with PPE and OSHA guidelines, read schematics, coordinate with vendors, and uphold university standards for reliability and efficiency.

Qualifications

• Five years of commercial kitchen equipment experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Must successfully pass a background check.

Responsibilities

• Supervise Commercial Kitchen Equipment employees and oversee hiring, evaluation, coaching, training, and discipline.
• Verify employee timesheets for accuracy; approve and submit.
• Assist with the development, oversight, and implementation of Commercial Kitchen Equipment strategy.
• Track kitchen equipment, inventory, and equipment.
• Ensure all equipment is in good working condition; recommend repairs and maintenance.
• Ensure PPE usage and OSHA guidelines are followed by all crew members.
• Read and interpret mechanical blueprints or schematics for assembly or repair accuracy.
• Prepare sketches and assist in design and specs of planned jobs or contracts.
• Provide budgeting guidance and help prepare capital and operating budgets.

Grand Canyon University’s Facilities department is seeking a full-time Commercial Kitchen Equipment Supervisor.

Primary Responsibilities /Accountabilities/ Essential Functions

• Responsible for supervisory duties including recommendation for hire/termination, evaluation, coaching, training, and discipline.
• Verify employee timesheets for accuracy; approve and submit.
• Assist with the development, oversight, and implementation of Commercial Kitchen Equipment strategy.
• Track Commercial Kitchen Equipment, inventory, and equipment.
• Assign duties to staff and inspects work activities.
• Ensure all equipment utilized is in good working condition; make recommendations for equipment repair and maintenance.
• Ensure all crew members follow university and OSHA guidelines in performance of daily work; ensure all required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) is utilized daily by all crew members.
• Train and instruct employees in new methods or procedures.
• Must be able to read and interpret mechanical blueprints or schematics to ensure assembly or repair is accurate.
• Prepare sketches of proposed work and assists in the design and specifications of planned jobs or contracts.
• Ensure budgeting guidelines are met; prioritizes expenditures to stay within budget; assists in the preparation of capital and operations budgets.
• Provide recommendations to management to facilitate the use of environmental best practices in the maintenance and upkeep of GCU facilities and assets.
• Evaluate workload and schedule of service work in a way that best utilizes service technicians.
• Evaluate corrective and preventive maintenance workload. Assign work orders according to university service level agreement and in a manner that most efficiently utilizes assigned technicians.
• Perform electronic recordkeeping related to corrective and preventive maintenance. Track and close assigned work orders; will monitor work orders assigned to team and assist them in managing work orders.
• All other duties as assigned.

• Microsoft Office, Excel, Word, Teams, SharePoint, Outlook, and Workday
• Integrated Work Management System (iWMS).
• This position requires a 40-hour work week schedule; also, may request over time as needed.

Supervise Commercial Kitchen Equipment employees.

Experience/ Education

• Five years of Commercial Kitchen Equipment experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experienceDegree required.
