Job summary

Old Dominion Mechanical, LLC in Charlottesville, VA is seeking a knowledgeable HVAC Mechanic to join our commercial construction team. The role installs, services, and maintains HVAC systems in commercial buildings, reading blueprints and specifications to determine layouts and procedures.

You will braze and solder refrigerant lines, perform startups, troubleshoot, and ensure code compliance. Collaboration with project managers and other trades helps meet schedules while maintaining safety and

Qualifications

• Minimum 3–5 years of experience in commercial HVAC work.
• EPA 608 certification required; OSHA 10 required (OSHA 30 preferred).
• HVAC system installation, maintenance, and safety procedures.

Responsibilities

• Install, service, and maintain commercial HVAC systems including air handlers, VAV boxes, RTUs, heat pumps, and split systems
• Read and interpret blueprints, mechanical drawings, and specifications to determine HVAC layout and installation procedures
• Braze and solder refrigeration lines, install refrigerant piping and drain lines
• Perform system startups, test for proper operation, and troubleshoot malfunctioning systems
• Ensure all work complies with local mechanical codes, regulations, and project specifications
• Collaborate with project managers, foremen, and other trades to complete projects on schedule
• Maintain tools, equipment, and job site cleanliness
• Accurately complete job logs, material tracking, and other required documentation
• Train and mentor apprentices as needed
• Identify and recommend improvements to project workflows
• Participate in safety meetings and adhere to all site-specific safety protocols
• Provide feedback to supervisors on material needs or system performance issues
