Job summary

RSC Mechanical is seeking Refrigeration Service Technicians to install, maintain, and repair commercial HVAC and refrigeration systems in Birmingham, AL. This full-time role requires a high school diploma and EPA Universal Certification, with competitive hourly pay based on experience.

Technicians will travel to various sites, work with EMS systems and digital work orders, and be part of a team that prioritizes safety and customer satisfaction.

Qualifications

• Experience and working knowledge of commercial refrigeration and HVAC preferred.
• Strong mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills.
• Ability to perform effectively in fast-paced and high-pressure environments.
• Self-starter capable of working independently and in a team setting.
• Customer-focused mindset with strong communication skills.
• Technicians are expected to provide their own standard hand tools.
• Comfortable using smartphones, tablets, and digital work order systems.
• Willingness to participate in an on-call rotation after training and travel as needed.

Responsibilities

• Install, maintain, and service commercial refrigeration and HVAC equipment (walk-ins, reach-ins, racks, ice machines).
• Troubleshoot electrical, mechanical, and control systems.
• Perform repairs and preventative maintenance on commercial refrigeration systems.
• Prioritize safety by securing work areas and powering down when needed.
• Handle refrigerants safely per EPA regulations.
• Read and interpret charts, diagrams, and manuals.
• Repair/replace compressors, motors, fans, and components.
• Provide service during emergency calls and coordinate with team.
