Commercial HVAC Project Manager - Mechanical Construction

Position Overview
We are seeking an experienced Commercial HVAC Project Manager to oversee commercial mechanical construction projects throughout the Chicagoland area. The ideal candidate will have strong experience managing HVAC or mechanical construction projects from award through closeout, with a focus on project profitability, scheduling, cost control, documentation, and client satisfaction.

Key Responsibilities
- Manage commercial HVAC and mechanical construction projects from contract award through final closeout.
- Develop and maintain project schedules, budgets, and cost forecasts.
- Monitor project costs, labor, materials, and subcontractor performance to protect gross margins.
- Maintain accurate cost-to-complete projections and financial reports.
- Review contracts, plans, specifications, and project scopes to identify potential issues and changes.
- Manage change orders and ensure proper documentation and approval.
- Coordinate field supervisors, subcontractors, vendors, architects, engineers, and owners.
- Lead and participate in Owner/Architect/Contractor (OAC) meetings.
- Maintain accurate project documentation using Procore or comparable construction management software.
- Monitor project progress and address schedule, budget, and quality issues proactively.
- Ensure compliance with company safety standards and jobsite requirements.
- Manage multiple projects simultaneously while maintaining strong communication and organization.
- Drive projects toward successful completion while maintaining quality, schedule, and profitability.
Qualifications
- 3-7 years of experience in commercial HVAC or mechanical construction project management.
- Proven experience managing construction budgets, schedules, and project financials.
- Strong understanding of commercial HVAC and mechanical systems.
- Ability to read and interpret mechanical drawings, specifications, and contracts.
- Experience with cost forecasting, project controls, and margin management.
- Proficiency with Procore or similar construction project management software.
- Strong communication, organization, and leadership skills.
- Ability to manage multiple projects and competing priorities.
- Strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
- Union mechanical construction experience is a plus.
