Job summary

AlphaGov is seeking an experienced Commercial Estimator in Austin, TX to lead the estimating process from bid invitation to handoff. You will review documents, perform precise takeoffs, assess subcontractor pricing, and craft accurate, competitive proposals.

The role requires detail orientation, strong knowledge of commercial interior construction, and the ability to manage multiple bids and deadlines in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of commercial estimating experience for interior trades (drywall, framing, ceilings, flooring).
• Commercial interior construction estimating experience is required.
• Strong understanding of commercial construction methods, materials, sequencing, and interior building systems.
• Ability to read and interpret architectural drawings, specifications, contracts, and bid documents.
• Proficient with estimating software such as Bluebeam, PlanSwift, On-Screen Takeoff or similar.
• Excellent communication and attention to detail, with ability to manage multiple bids.

Responsibilities

• Prepare detailed estimates for commercial drywall, metal framing, acoustical ceilings, and flooring projects.
• Review drawings, specifications, contracts, and bid documents to define scope.
• Perform quantity takeoffs for labor, materials, equipment, and subcontracted work.
• Solicit, analyze, and level pricing from vendors and subcontractors.
• Identify risks, scope gaps, and value-engineering opportunities.
• Prepare bid proposals, scope summaries, and pricing documentation.
