Job summary

Green Key Resources is seeking an Estimator to join a growing Austin-based general contractor focusing on corporate interiors, industrial, healthcare, and ground-up projects. You’ll participate in budgeting, takeoffs, and bid packaging from early concepts through turnover to operations.

You will work closely with project management and field teams, identifying risks, reviewing drawings, and supporting value engineering to optimize costs across multiple sectors.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of estimating or preconstruction experience in commercial GC
• Ability to read and interpret drawings and specs
• Experience with quantity takeoffs and detailed estimates
• Understanding of subcontractor scopes and bid leveling

Responsibilities

• Prepare conceptual, schematic, design development, and final construction estimates
• Develop detailed quantity takeoffs and scopes of work
• Solicit, level, and analyze subcontractor and supplier proposals
• Build complete project budgets and bid packages
• Identify scope gaps, constructability concerns, and project risks
• Partner with project management, field operations, and preconstruction teams
• Participate in subcontractor outreach and maintain trade partner relationships
• Assist with value engineering and cost-saving strategies
• Review drawings, specifications, and project documents for completeness
• Support project handoff from estimating/preconstruction into operations
• Participate in owner, architect, and internal preconstruction meetings

A fast-growing, employee-owned commercial general contractor is looking to add an Estimator to its expanding Austin team.

This is a strong opportunity for an estimator who wants exposure to a diverse mix of corporate interiors, industrial, manufacturing, healthcare, and ground-up commercial construction while joining a company that continues to grow its presence across Central Texas.

Rather than being siloed into one narrow project type, this role will have the opportunity to work across multiple sectors and participate in projects from early budgeting and conceptual estimating through final pricing and turnover to operations.

What You’ll Be Doing:

• Prepare conceptual, schematic, design development, and final construction estimates
• Develop detailed quantity takeoffs and scopes of work

• Build complete project budgets and bid packages

• Partner with project management, field operations, and preconstruction teams throughout the estimating process

What We’re Looking For:

• 3+ years of estimating or preconstruction experience with a commercial general contractor
• Strong ability to read and interpret construction drawings and specifications
• Experience performing quantity takeoffs and developing detailed estimates
• Strong understanding of subcontractor scopes, bid leveling, and procurement
• Comfortable working on multiple estimates and deadlines simultaneously
• Strong communication and relationship-building skills
• Ability to work collaboratively with project management and field teams

Preferred Experience:

• Corporate interiors / high-end tenant improvement
• Ground-up commercial construction
• Industrial, warehouse, manufacturing, or tilt-wall projects
• Healthcare or technically complex commercial projects
• Experience with estimating platforms such as Bluebeam, BuildingConnected, Procore, OST, or similar systems
