Job summary

AlphaX is seeking an experienced Commercial Construction Estimator to lead the estimating cycle for interior finish trades, including drywall, metal framing, acoustical ceilings, and flooring.

You will review plans, perform quantity takeoffs, evaluate subcontractor pricing, and prepare final bid submissions while coordinating with project teams, suppliers, and clients. This role requires strong analytical skills and collaborative spirit.

Qualifications

• Minimum 3 years of commercial construction estimating experience.
• Hands-on estimating experience with drywall, metal framing, acoustical ceilings, flooring, or related interior finish trades.
• Strong understanding of interior construction materials, installation methods, labor requirements, and cost structures.
• Ability to read and interpret architectural plans, specifications, and bid documents.
• Proficiency with estimating software including Bluebeam, PlanSwift or On-Screen Takeoff.

Responsibilities

• Prepare detailed estimates for commercial drywall, metal framing, acoustical ceilings, flooring, and related interior finishes.
• Review blueprints, drawings, specs, contracts and addenda to establish scope and quantities.
• Perform quantity takeoffs and calculate labor hours, materials, equipment, and subcontractor costs.
• Develop estimates using current supplier pricing, labor rates, and market conditions.
• Solicit and evaluate subcontractor and supplier proposals to cover all scope items.
• Identify missing work, trade conflicts, exclusions, and budget risks before bid submission.
• Prepare comprehensive bid packages with itemized costs and assumptions.
• Coordinate with project managers, field teams, and subs to resolve pricing questions.
• Maintain bid records, vendor contacts, and cost data for future bids.
• Attend pre-bid meetings and site visits as needed.
