Job summary

Higgins Group, Inc. is seeking a Commercial Estimator in Wichita, KS. This full-time role analyzes construction documents, develops accurate cost estimates, and supports business development through disciplined bidding.

The successful candidate will evaluate materials, labor, and equipment, identify value-engineering opportunities, and collaborate with Project Managers to ensure a seamless transition from bid to execution.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in related field preferred; or Associate degree from a two-year college or technical school and two years related experience.
• General knowledge in the engineering or architectural trade can be a benefit.
• Must have a valid driver's license.

Responsibilities

• Analyze blueprints, architectural drawings, and general specifications for work.
• Prepare estimates and budgets, aiming for accuracy and competitiveness.
• Evaluate materials for purchase by cost changes and additions.
• Submit bids and budgets by the bid deadline.
• Foster relationships with general contractors and clients.
• Coordinate submittals, procurement, and labor/equipment management on multiple projects.
• Collaborate with foremen and project managers for smooth handoffs.
• Include value-engineering ideas on every bid.
• Follow up on bids and budgets with Architects/GCs to close business.
