Job description

Huntsman is seeking a Commercial Engineer supporting the Building Science Division located in Arlington, Texas. This position reports to the Building Science Director.

Job Scope

The Commercial Engineer plays a vital role within HBS by establishing and maintaining strong relationships with architects, engineers, and home builders across the United States. The role involves supporting the sales team with technical assistance and developing testing guidelines for our product assemblies.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and sustain relationships with strategic commercial and residential architects and home builders in the US.
  • Assist the residential team in securing annual forecasted single-family business through HBS builder programs.
  • Collaborate with sales and contractors to increase market share of current commercial and residential business.
  • Leverage various HBS segments to promote the specification of HBS products and assemblies.
  • Complete monthly expenses, emails, reports, presentations, and other administrative tasks promptly.
  • Join Territory Managers in driving business with commercial and residential accounts.
  • Provide regular updates to Sales, Marketing, BSE, and HBS Leadership Team.
  • Participate in HBS-sponsored national and regional networking events and conferences.
  • Review and maintain existing and new product certifications.
  • Identify testing opportunities and coordinate with labs for product assembly testing.

Qualifications:

Applicants must meet the following minimum qualifications. Preferred qualifications are additional assets that can distinguish top candidates.

The candidate must have the unrestricted right to work in the United States for Huntsman.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • At least 5 years of experience in construction, architecture, insulation, or engineering.
  • At least 3 years of experience with lab procedures and standards related to insulation testing.
  • Involvement in industry organizations such as SFC or SPFA is a plus.

Skills and Knowledge:

  • Strong understanding of building codes related to foam plastic insulation.
  • Problem-solving skills for supporting sales reps via various communication channels.
  • Ability to produce technical presentations and coordinate product testing.
  • Experience in resolving project issues related to building science and insulation.
  • Effective communication with homeowners, builders, architects, and contractors.
  • Proficiency in presenting in person or virtually to various audiences.
  • Knowledge of the construction industry standards such as IRC, IECC, and Energy Star.
  • Comfort with virtual and in-person presentations and meetings with executives.
  • Proficient in MS Office, especially PowerPoint and Teams.
  • Excellent verbal, written, and public speaking skills.
  • Awareness of industry news from ICC, ASTM, and related organizations.
  • Ability to work from a home office environment.
  • Physical ability to sit, stand, walk, drive, and lift at least 35 pounds.
  • Willingness to travel up to 40% annually across the US.
