Job summary

Smart Care is a national repair and service provider for commercial foodservice, refrigeration, and cold storage equipment. The Hotside Service Technician will diagnose, repair, and maintain gas-fired and electric cooking equipment at customer sites, requiring hands-on experience, strong electrical/mechanical understanding, and commitment to safe, dependable service.

You will work on ovens, ranges, fryers, griddles, and other foodservice gear, with responsibilities including troubleshooting

Qualifications

• Experience servicing commercial gas and electric cooking equipment.
• Strong electrical troubleshooting skills; proficient with a multimeter.
• Knowledge of commercial gas systems, ignition controls, and combustion.
• Able to diagnose equipment failures and complete repairs independently.
• Strong mechanical aptitude, attention to detail, and customer service.
• Valid driver’s license and ability to travel between customer locations.
• Able to perform the physical duties of field service work.

Responsibilities

• Troubleshoot, repair, and maintain commercial ovens, ranges, fryers, griddles, broilers, steamers, and other foodservice equipment.
• Diagnose gas system issues involving ignition systems, burners, gas valves, regulators, thermocouples, and flame-sensing components.
• Troubleshoot electrical systems, including single- and three-phase circuits, heating elements, motors, contactors, relays, thermostats, and electronic controls.
• Read and interpret wiring diagrams, schematics, and service manuals.
• Perform preventive maintenance and verify proper equipment operation after repairs.
• Follow manufacturer procedures and safety requirements, including lockout/tagout and safe gas-handling practices.
• Communicate findings and status to customers and the service team.
• Complete accurate service documentation and manage parts inventory.
