Job summary

MPI is seeking an experienced commercial construction Estimator to lead the Houston market as the first dedicated estimator, reporting to senior leadership. This role offers autonomy to build relationships, shape strategy, and drive regional growth.

You will lead preconstruction, develop concepts to final bids, perform quantity take-offs, price subs, and partner with an estimating team to win negotiated and competitive bids in the Texas market.

Qualifications

• 5–7 years of commercial construction estimating experience.
• Experience developing estimates from concept to final bid.
• Strong knowledge of Houston subcontractor markets and costs.
• Proven quantity take-offs and full estimating process management.
• Proficient in estimating software such as Autodesk ProEst.
• Excellent communication and relationship-building skills.
• Self-motivated, autonomous with remote teams.

Description

Reporting directly to the Vice President of Estimating, this Estimator will establish and lead estimating operations for a growing regional market while partnering closely with an experienced estimating team located elsewhere in Texas.

• Lead preconstruction and estimating efforts for commercial construction projects throughout the Houston market.
• Develop conceptual, schematic, and detailed estimates from initial project pursuit through final pricing.
• Perform quantity take-offs, obtain subcontractor and vendor pricing, and build complete project estimates.
• Cultivate and maintain strong relationships with subcontractors, suppliers, owners, and project partners throughout the local market.
• Participate in bid strategy discussions and collaborative estimate reviews with senior leadership.
• Support both negotiated opportunities and competitive bid pursuits.
• Serve as a key market representative, helping expand the company's presence and future growth within the region.
  

Profile

• Minimum 5-7 years of commercial construction estimating experience.
• Proven experience developing estimates from concept through final bid submission.
• Strong knowledge of local subcontractor markets, material pricing, and construction costs within the Houston area.
• Existing network of subcontractors, vendors, and industry contacts throughout the region.
• Experience performing quantity take-offs and managing the full estimating process independently.
• Proficiency with estimating software, ideally Autodesk ProEst or similar platforms.
• Strong communication and relationship-building skills.
• Self-motivated professional comfortable working autonomously while collaborating with remote teams.
• Someone who is ready to move beyond a supporting role and take ownership of a market with leadership visibility and influence.
