Qualifications

• 7–10 years of commercial construction estimating experience preferred.
• Strong understanding of commercial construction methods, materials, labor, and subcontractor pricing.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Strong mathematical, analytical, critical-thinking, and problem-solving abilities.
• Proficiency with construction estimating software, incl. Procore bidding.

Responsibilities

• Analyze bid documents, blueprints, drawings, and project specifications to understand each project.
• Research historical data and industry information to develop accurate budgets.

• Prepare detailed cost estimates for materials, labor, subcontractors, and overall project.
• Develop relationships with vendors, subcontractors, clients, and contractors.

A well-established commercial construction company located in Lake County, Ohio is seeking an experienced Commercial Construction Estimator to join its team.

Position Responsibilities

• Analyze bid documents, blueprints, drawings, and project specifications to develop a thorough understanding of each project.
• Research historical project data and industry information to develop accurate project budgets.
• Determine lead times and identify factors that may influence labor, material, equipment, and production costs.
• Prepare detailed material, labor, subcontractor, and overall project cost estimates.
• Develop and maintain strong working relationships with vendors, subcontractors, clients, and contractors.
• Solicit, manage, and evaluate bids from vendors and subcontractors and use bid information to prepare detailed cost analyses.
• Compile, track, and record actual project costs for comparison with estimates.
• Ensure estimates meet client requirements and accurately reflect labor, material, equipment, and schedule requirements.
• Review construction drawings and specifications and develop detailed scopes of work for all applicable trades.
• Prepare consistent, accurate, and well-defined proposals, including appropriate bid qualifications and exclusions.
• Collaborate with other estimating staff to develop comprehensive budgets and competitive proposals.
• Participate in project turnover meetings with Project Managers after projects are awarded.
• Assist with value engineering, scope review, and cost-saving opportunities as needed.

Qualifications

• 7–10 years of commercial construction estimating experience preferred.
• Strong understanding of commercial construction methods, materials, labor, and subcontractor pricing.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

• Proficiency with computers and construction estimating software.
• Experience with Procore bidding and estimating software or similar platforms is a plus.
• Ability to read and interpret construction drawings, specifications, and contract documents.
• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
• Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with a team.
• Professional relationship-building skills with vendors, subcontractors, clients, and contractors.
• Valid driver's license and good driving record required.
• Ability to work additional hours and travel as project needs require.

Schedule

• Full-time position
• Monday–Friday
• Normal working hours: 7:30 a.m.–4:30 p.m.
• Additional hours and travel may be required based on project demands
• Work is performed in person
