Job summary

Blueprint Search Group is seeking an experienced Commercial Construction Estimator to join our team in North Carolina. You will develop accurate, competitive estimates for commercial projects, reviewing drawings, specs, and bid documents, and coordinating with project management, architects, engineers, subcontractors, and vendors.

The role emphasizes preconstruction, value engineering, constructability reviews, and cost planning, with opportunities to influence design decisions and project

Qualifications

  • 3+ years of commercial construction estimating experience.
  • Experience estimating projects from plans and specs.
  • Bachelors degree preferred, but equivalent construction experience considered.
  • Proficient with estimating software and MS Office.
  • Ability to read architectural, structural, civil, and MEP drawings.
  • Strong analytical and organizational skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Knowledge of subcontractor pricing and market conditions.

Responsibilities

  • Review and analyze drawings, specs, bid documents, and project requirements.
  • Prepare detailed conceptual, budget, and hard-bid estimates.
  • Perform quantity takeoffs for labor, materials, equipment, and subcontracted work.
  • Solicit and evaluate subcontractor and vendor proposals.
  • Develop competitive lump-sum and negotiated bid proposals.
  • Assist with milestone scheduling and project planning during preconstruction.
  • Identify scope gaps, exclusions, conflicts, and potential project risks.
  • Develop cost breakdowns and maintain accurate estimating documentation.
  • Evaluate subcontractor bids for completeness, accuracy, and scope coverage.
  • Work with the project team to develop budgets and cost-effective strategies.
  • Identify opportunities for value engineering and constructability improvements.
  • Assist with design-assist and design/build projects by providing construction expertise.
  • Research material pricing, labor costs, equipment requirements, and market conditions.
  • Coordinate with operations to ensure estimates are realistic and executable in the field.
  • Participate in pre-bid meetings, scope reviews, and client presentations as needed.
  • Prepare final bid submissions and assist with contract negotiations.
  • Maintain relationships with subcontractors, suppliers, and industry partners.
  • Support project handoff from estimating to project management and field operations.

Job description

We are seeking an experienced Commercial Construction Estimator to join our construction team and play a key role in developing accurate, competitive, and well-structured estimates for commercial construction projects.

The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of commercial construction, subcontractor pricing, material costs, labor requirements, and project scheduling. This individual will work closely with project management, clients, architects, engineers, subcontractors, and vendors to develop estimates that support successful project delivery. This is an excellent opportunity for an estimator who enjoys being involved early in the construction process and wants to contribute to preconstruction, value engineering, constructability, and project strategy.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Ability to manage multiple estimates and deadlines simultaneously
  • Proficiency with construction estimating software and Microsoft Office
  • Ability to read and interpret architectural, structural, civil, and MEP drawings
  • Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or a related field preferred, but equivalent construction experience will be considered
