Summary:

The Commercial Construction Estimator is responsible for preparing and/or coordinating the preparation of full estimates on large and complex commercial construction projects as required by the client's documents. The estimator provides a complete conceptual description of the project and the total bid price.

Duties and Responsibilities:

1. Review and evaluate requests for estimates.
2. Ensure timely completion of estimates.
3. Review estimates and revisions for completeness and accuracy.
4. Review construction documents and understand the scope of work to bid.
5. Execute take-offs of construction documents.
6. Input take-offs into a computer spreadsheet.
7. Obtain pricing for materials.
8. Prepare cost analysis by recapitulating material, labor, equipment, and overhead costs incurred in the installation of items.
9. Make estimates where predetermined standards are not available.
10. Inform immediate supervisor of any observed inaccuracies or omissions in quoted items on the computer database.
11. Develop and maintain resource information on products, vendors, subcontractors, and government requirements.
12. Attend departmental meetings as required.
13. Create job folders.
14. Photocopy documents and plans.
15. Perform all other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications:

Education: Bachelor's degree

Experience: 2-3 years of related experience and/or training

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

• Knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel
• Experience with Sage estimating software

Strength Level: Lifting 10-25 pounds
