Position Summary

The primary purpose of the Assistant Store Manager is to assist the Store Manager in upholding the daily store operations of a retail store, ensuring maximum sales and profitability through merchandising execution, managing expenses and inventory, training and development of the store team, human resources management, and outstanding customer service.

Essential Duties And Responsibilities

1. Responsible for overall quality and performance of the retail store staff.
2. Ensures compliance with all company policies and procedures.
3. Models effective leadership to gain commitment to store goals and training standards.
4. Assists with the recruitment, selection, training, and development of store personnel.
5. Provides feedback to Store Manager on performance evaluations for all store employees.
6. Assists with expense management and develops strategies to meet budget goals.
7. Monitors and addresses issues related to loss or inventory discrepancies to meet shrink targets.
8. Ensures operational compliance, safety, and business standards are maintained.
9. Supports employee training in selling and merchandising techniques.
10. Upholds customer service standards to ensure an outstanding shopping experience.
11. Assists with accurate merchandise inventory counts.
12. Performs other duties as assigned.
13. Standard work week does not exceed 40 hours.
14. Flexible schedule including days, nights, weekends, and holidays.

Qualifications

To perform this job successfully, the employee must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skills, and/or abilities required:

Education And/or Experience

• Minimum of one (1) year in retail management.

• Strong knowledge of business operations and excellent communication skills.

• Ability to think strategically, plan, organize, and maintain professionalism.
• Proficient in data analysis, reporting, and problem-solving.

• Proficiency in Microsoft Office.
• Willingness to work across multiple stores in the district.

Physical Requirements

• Ability to stand for long periods, lift/carry/push/pull up to 50 lbs.
• Extended hours during critical periods; ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
• Reliable transportation and willingness to travel.
