Job summary

NRG Energy seeks a Combustion Turbine Specialist to support the operation and maintenance of a simple cycle duel fuel turbine and related systems. You will supervise safe operation, monitoring, and start-up/shutdown of plant equipment with supervision and rigorous safety standards.

The role includes training through web-based programs and hands-on experience, plus involvement in instrument maintenance, predictive maintenance programs, and regulatory compliance across rotating shifts.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or Equivalent required.
• Experience with electric generating equipment and operations preferred.
• Valid driver’s license and must be insurable.

Responsibilities

• Learn all plant systems to operate the plant under varied conditions, including power plant fundamentals and turbine/generator operation.
• Operate turbine-generators for start‑up and shut‑down; observe and record readings for safe operation.
• Prepare plant statistical reports and assist with budgeting and maintenance records.
• Participate in safety tagging and regulatory compliance; maintain logs of actions taken.
• Develop and conduct the plant’s predictive maintenance program and manage maintenance data.
• Install, test, and service control instruments; maintain electrical and mechanical equipment.
• Handle emergency response and rotate shifts including weekends and holidays.
