Job summary

The Comanche Nation Language Department in Lawton, OK is hiring an assistant to support Comanche language activities. You will help create audio, video, and multimedia materials for physical, digital, and online formats, and assist with community classes and events.

Requirements include fluency in Comanche and English, ability to teach, strong communication, and flexibility for varying hours. A High School Diploma or GED is preferred; valid Oklahoma driver’s license is required.

Qualifications

• Must be fluent in Comanche and English with Comanche as L1
• Second Language Acquisition or facilitator training preferred
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills for classroom and public settings
• Ability to adapt teaching methods and learning strategies
• Available for flexible hours and travel as needed
• Must possess a valid Oklahoma driver's license

Responsibilities

• Assist with Comanche language activities.
• Provide instruction to learners as requested.
• Assist with community classes and events.
• Assist with producing Comanche language texts/workbooks; translation as requested.
• Record Comanche conversations, narratives, songs, etc.
• Participate in language revitalization efforts with linguists and partners.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
