American Electric Power (AEP) in Columbus, OH seeks a Building Maintenance Technician to maintain and repair HVAC, electrical, plumbing and mechanical systems at its downtown HQ. The role includes roofing, drywall, painting and site improvements, with a focus on safety and compliance.

You will monitor contractors, procure parts, and keep records while supporting building operations and responding to emergencies. Overtime, weekends and travel may be required.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• 2+ years as Building Maintenance Technician B or 3+ years in HVAC, electrical, plumbing or carpentry.
• Must possess a valid state driver’s license; HireVue assessment required.
• Preferred licenses/certs: electrician or HVAC license or CFC refrigerant certification.
• Overtime, weekend/evening shifts and travel may be required.
• Ability to read blueprints and use a computer; strong safety awareness.
• Excellent verbal and written communication and problem-solving skills.

Responsabilités

• Perform preventative/predictive maintenance and repair HVAC, electrical, plumbing and mechanical systems.
• Maintain building furnishings such as drywall, painting, ceilings, roofing and floors.
• Coordinate with contractors; ensure work complies with safety rules and codes.
• Keep records and submit inspection and inventory reports as required.
• Respond to emergency call-outs and assist with housekeeping and site tasks.
