AEP Service Corporation in Columbus, OH, is seeking a Building Maintenance Technician to service HVAC, electrical, plumbing, and building systems at our downtown HQ. The role requires hands-on maintenance, coordination with contractors, and adherence to safety and contract terms.

Responsibilities include preventative maintenance, general repairs to building components, and maintaining records. Overtime and on-call shifts may be required, including evenings and weekends, with indoor/outdoor work

Competenze

• High school diploma or GED required.
• 2+ years as Building Maintenance Technician B (or 3+ years equivalent).
• Valid driver's license and HireVue assessment.
• HVAC or electrician license or CFC refrigerant certification preferred; willingness to pursue.
• Overtime, travel, and weekend/evening shifts may be required.
• Ability to read blueprints, drawings, schematics and use a computer.

Job Summary

We're looking for a Building Maintenance Technician to perform skilled work on HVAC, electrical, plumbing, and mechanical building systems, including operation, maintenance, repair, alterations, and additions, as well as building furnishings and site improvements at AEP's downtown Columbus HQ.

Job Description

What You'll Do

• Perform preventative/predictive maintenance on, troubleshoot, repair, install and operate various types of HVAC-related equipment, emergency generators, and general building mechanical, electrical and plumbing equipment and systems in accordance with industry standards and mechanical, electrical, plumbing and building codes.
• Perform general building maintenance and repair related to drywall, masonry, painting, ceilings, roofing, tile, carpets, windows and other related items.
• Monitor the work of, communicate effectively with, and/or assist others, including contractors, engaged in maintenance, construction and operation activities.
• Ensure work is completed in compliance with contract terms and conditions and in accordance with company safety, security, environmental and conduct rules.
• Perform general housekeeping duties as required, such as, assemble, move, repair, hang and adjust furniture, wall hangings, doors, windows and other office items, assist in snow removal, storm damage cleanup, lawn maintenance, spill cleanup, inventory management.
• Procure necessary quality parts and material in the most economical and accepted manner.
• Maintain records, including inspection documentation, and submit reports as required.

What We’re Looking For

• Education requirements: High school diploma or GED required.
• Experience: Minimum two (2) years of experience as a Building Maintenance Technician B or at least three (3) years equivalent experience.
• Licenses/Certifications: Must possess and maintain a valid state drivers license. Successful completion of the HireVue assessment is required.
• Preferred Qualifications: Electrician or HVAC license or CFC refrigerant certification preferred. Must be willing to pursue the certification.
• Other Requirements: Overtime required. Overnight travel may be required. In addition, scheduled as well as unscheduled, weekend and evening shift work may be required. Will be expected to respond to emergency call out work. Requires working indoors and outdoors in all weather.
• Skills: Possess excellent verbal, written, organizational, problem solving and communication skills. Ability to read, interpret, review, revise, and correct blueprints, drawings, schematics, specifications and instructions related to the assigned work. Requires the ability to utilize a computer.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

• List physical demands required for this job, but not limited to: Constant standing; frequent walking; occasional pushing, pulling, lifting, climbing, squatting, kneeling.
• This position requires lifting, moving and carrying equipment up to and in excess of 50 lbs. Work at heights.

Compensation Grade: SP20-005
Compensation Range: $30.53 - $38.16

M – Medium Work: Exerting 20 to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 10 to 25 pounds of force frequently, and/or greater than negligible up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects. Physical demand requirements are in excess of those for Light Work.
