The role requires using a spectrophotometer, creating test panels, updating formulas for better color come-off, and recording results in the data management system. A strong emphasis on color vision, math, and QC skills is essential.

Qualifications

• Preferred education: Associate’s or two-year college degree or equivalent.
• 3+ years of experience in batch creation, wet testing, color matching, and paint characteristics in a manufacturing setting.
• Strong ability to analyze performance metrics (e.g., FRC, cycle time, on-time delivery).
• Ability to manipulate QC data in Excel and Access databases.
• Excellent color vision and math skills with metric conversions.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills and computer skills (MS Office, ERP).
• Team oriented and detail oriented.

Responsibilities

• Determine color and gloss additives to match standards.
• Use spectrophotometer (X-Rite) to obtain color values and interpret results.
• Create test panels by hand spraying and visually inspect color and appearance.
• Collaborate with chemists and supervisors to adjust formulas for out-of-spec products.
• Enter final quality results in data management program and use historical data to tint batches.
• Perform QC lab tasks: viscosity, solids, weight per gallon.
